Seeking Multi-Use Trail

Thu, 2015-01-29 18:07 -- admin

With CP discontinuing operations on the line in 2010, the tracks and ancillary equipment have been removed from the rail bed. The county wants to become its future owner and convert the railway into a recreational trail corridor.

The CP line, 302-kilometres long, stretches from Smith Falls to Mattawa, through Renfrew County, Lanark County, Pembroke, Ottawa and the Township of Papineau-Cameron. Each have claimed first right-of-refusal for the abandoned rail beds for their respective section of the line, however, CP wants to see the line sold off wholesale.

Petawawathon - Petawawa Family Cycle Club

Wed, 2014-09-03 12:01 -- sp@kidactive.ca

The cycle club will slow down in September to focus on planning and, to catch up with letters of thanks owed to the local businesses that kept the wheels in motion this year. Unfortunately, the club can no longer afford insurance, and will no longer be hosting family rides in Petawawa as a club. However, there is nothing stopping parents and friends of this awesome community from bringing their kids out for bike rides. Hopefully everyone can continue to connect on Facebook and ride together again.
